Morris Thrower Acreman, 85, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 28th, 2026, at Crenshaw Community Hospital. A graveside service for Morris will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 2nd, in El Bethel Cemetery with Rev. Parker Bowen and Rev. Jeremy Hendrick officiating and with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 12:30 to 1:30 PM.
Morris was a true patriot who proudly served his country with the Alabama National Guard for well over 20 years, retiring with the rank of sergeant first class. Additionally, he spent many years working as butcher as well, so no one knew a better cut of meat than him and he loved a great ribeye more than anything else. In the mornings, you could bet that he was gonna be at It Don't Matter for his usual breakfast order....maybe lunch too! In his free time, Morris was usually gonna find something to do outside in the fresh air, and that usual thing was fishing. Boy, did that man love to fish!! He loved to fish, talk about fishing, make plans to go fishing; so, yeah, he may have enjoyed it a bit.
There are few people in this world who genuinely love their fellow man like Morris did. You couldn't even say that he never met a stranger; Morris rarely met someone who he didn't treat like family. He was also an avid fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide and he was always generous with everyone, often giving away the fish he caught. Morris was a big animal lover as well, as evidenced by the yard full of cats he fed everyday. Above all, he was a devoted father and "Grandpop" to the grandchildren and great-grandson he adored with all his heart. He will be sorely missed by everyone who knew and loved him.
Morris was preceded in death by his son, Morris Todd Acreman; infant son; parents, Marvin J. & Lura Merle Thrower Acreman; and siblings, Jeanette Stephenson, Mavis Newton, and Furman Acreman. Survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Amanda & Larry White; grandchildren, Kyle (Anna) Acreman, Samantha White, and Cameron White; great-grandchild, Brennan Williams; his beloved canine companion, Babygirl; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Kyle Acreman, Cameron White, Brennan Williams, Larry White, Pete Jimenez, Steve Stephenson, Chris White, Ronnie White, and Robert White.
