Mrs. Myrtice Defee Stephens Howell, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, January 5th, 2022. A graveside service for Mrs. Howell will be held at 2 PM on Friday, January 7th, in Rock Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Johnny Jones officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Howell spent her life as a devoted caregiver to everyone around her. She dedicated her early years to raising her family as she made sure they grew up in a loving, warm environment. She was an excellent cook, and yet she also loved to eat out with family and friends. She was deeply religious, and loved leading her church choir for many years. In her free time, she loved few things more than staying on the go, whether it was a relaxing trip to the mountains or taking on Thunder Beach at the tender age of 80 years old! Above all, however, nothing mattered to her more than her family. She was an adoring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who always put her family first in everything they needed. Though she will be sorely missed, her loved ones will find comfort in knowing she is now at peace while being reunited with those who went on before her and in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Howell was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Stephens; grandson, William Derrick Fincher; parents, Walter Thomas & Alma Jordan Defee; and siblings, Vernon Defee, W.T. Defee, Doris Seaman, Mary Belle Johnson, Inez Davis, and Kathryn Henderson. She is survived by her loving children, Bobby (Donna) Stephens, Teresa McLeod, and Michelle (Johnny) Fox; grandchildren, Wesley Stephens, Joshua (Roxie) Fincher, Austin (Sheldyn) Stephens, Caitlin Stephens (Alex Brown), Hunter Fox (Megan Morgan), and Lakyn Fox; great-grandchildren, Sewell Stephens, Charlotte Stephens, Ryleigh Fox, Dallas Fox, Maylee Fincher, Kai Stephens, and Oaklyn Fox; and numerous nieces & nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Austin Stephens, Joshua Fincher, Alex Brown, Jonathan Defee, Erik Henderson, and Johnny Fox.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12:30 - 1:30 PM.
