SHOWS, Mrs. Naomi Wilson Williamson ( 91) died Oct 10, 2011 at Crenshaw County Hospital in Luverne, Al. . Mrs. Shows was born in Crenshaw County to William Edgar and Cornelia Jeffcoat Wilson and lived in Luverne and Rutledge until 2002 when she moved to Birmingham. She was a graduate of Luverne High School and received an LPN degree from McArthur State Technical College. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Luverne and later a member of Liberty Park Baptist Church in Birmingham. Following the death of her husband, Paxton Marvin Williamson, in 1967, she obtained her LPN degree and worked as a nurse at Crenshaw County Hospital and the Troy Nursing Home. She married Horace Shows in 1976. After retirement she served as a volunteer at the Luverne Nursing Home. She was a member of the Eastern Star, the Rutledge Homemakers Club and the WMU of First Baptist Church Luverne.
She was predeceased by her parents and nine siblings: Ruth Wilson Barfoot (Cecil), W.D. Wilson (Ruth), Cumi Wilson Roten (Emmett), Marshall A. Wilson (Edna), Sanford A. Wilson (Mary), Woodrow Wilson (Irene), Victoria Wilson Taylor (Stanley), Ruby Wilson Faircloth (Sidney) and Baxter J. Wilson (Helen). She was also predeceased by two husbands: Paxton Marvin Williamson, the father of her children, and Horace Shows.
She is survived by 5 children, 6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Children: LaRue Williamson Speights (Major) of Grapevine, TX. , Janice Williamson Roberts of Birmingham, James M. Williamson (Cynthia) of Luverne, Pat Williamson (Eddie Bahadir) of Minneapolis, MN and William A. (Tony) Williamson (Donna) of Birmingham. Grandchildren: Stephen Speights of New York, NY, Stephanie Speights Hollinger (Doug) of Grapevine, TX, Jennifer Speights Binet (John) of Birmingham, Erica Williamson Barnes (James) of Birmingham, Peyton Williamson Gradwell (Blake) of Tuscaloosa, and Ashley Ann Williamson of Birmingham and Auburn. Great grandchildren: Zoe Hollinger of Grapevine, TX, Sara Binet and Luke Binet of Birmingham. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 13, 2011 at Turner Funeral Home Chapel in Luverne with Rev. William Leverette and Rev. Major Speights officiating. Interment will follow in Darien Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be 1 hour before the service.
