Nell Helms Hare

HARE, Mrs. Nell Helms, 88, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017. A celebration of Mrs. Hare’s life will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, May 23, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Parker Bowen and Rev. Jerry Lundy officiating. Interment will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Hare was preceded in death by her daughter, Gloria Constance Lundy, granddaughter, Angela Elaine Hargett, parents, Arthur Lee and Myrtie Belle Helms, two sisters, Anna Ruth Bess and Betty Glenn Perry, and brother, James Arthur Helms. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Charles Bonner Hare, three children, Mary Gail (Charles) Netherland, Charles William (Terry) Hare, and Benjamin Ellis (Lili) Hare, son-in-law, Jerry H. Lundy, eight grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, five great great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Active pallbearers will be Jerry H. Lundy, Jr., Charles V. Netherland, Jr., Dennis Edward Netherland, Charles Daniel Hare, Phillip Andrew Lundy, and Joseph Lee Hare. Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Davis, Robert Duett, Jayson Carey and Bennett Hare. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Highland Home Baptist Church Building Fund, 343 New Bethel Church Road, Highland Home, Alabama 36041. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday, May 22, from 6 – 8pm.
