Oliver "Peewee" Mount

December 18, 1935 — August 22, 2021

Brantley

Mr. Oliver “PeeWee” Mount, 85, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly while doing what he loved, farming, on Sunday, August 22, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Mount will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, August 26th, in Brantley Cemetery with Rev. Tony Dye officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Mount proudly served his country with the United States Navy as a young man, in the difficult job as a boiler operator on the USS Yorktown. After his discharge, he went to work for the Alabama Electric Company, where he was a dedicated employee until his retirement 39 years later. In his free time, he put so much of himself into working his land as a farmer, and he took immense pride in that work. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, especially doting on his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In fact, they will swear that he was the best malt maker there ever was, and that was a cherished tradition between them. He will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved him, but they are grateful for every moment they had together.

Mr. Mount was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Douglas & Bertha Bullard Mount; siblings, Christine Mount Ross and Carroll Mount; and nephew, Charles Bailey. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Delores Straughn Mount; their children, Daryl (Tammy) Mount and Kay (Jason) Sport; grandchildren, David (Tonya) Morris, Brian Morris, Katie Mount, and Meg Mount; great-grandchildren, Briar Morris, Declan Morris, and Adalyn Morris; and sister, Merlene Bailey.

Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
