Ollie Pearl Lewis Olive, 89, a resident of Grady, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, April 18th, 2024. A memorial service has not been planned at this time.
Ollie Pearl was definitely a shop until she drops kinda woman back in the day. It didn't matter what it was, she was ready to browse! She especially loved beautiful lights and had them all over her home and yard. She lovingly tended to her plants and flowers around the porch that made everything so beautiful. While cooking was never a favorite activity for her, her scrumptious pound cakes were famous enough to make an appearance as one of her grandson's groom's cake for his wedding! Despite her slight figure, never doubt that Ollie Pearl was really the one in charge. She was a little feisty who knew her own mind and never minded filling you in whenever the occasion called for it. She has had a wonderful sense of humor about life in general. In other words, she was exactly what you would expect of a true Southern woman. She also knew how to have a good time back in her younger days, as she and her beloved husband, John, spent most Saturday nights out dancing to the tunes of their favorite band, Night Moves. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was the beloved "Nannie" of her family. She was the heart and soul of her family as they all loved her so dearly. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, but there is comfort to be found in knowing she is now healthy and whole in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Ollie Pearl was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene & Ruth Dendy Lewis, and siblings, Sara Kathleen Thompson, Dendy E. Lewis, and Frank A. Lewis. She is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, John Harold Olive; their beloved children, Patricia Kaye Olive, Harold Wade (Cynthia) Olive, Linda (Kenneth) Braswell, and Edwin Glenn (Diane) Olive; grandchildren, Jessica (Billy) Skinner, Landon (Angel) Braswell, Kevin (Maranda) Braswell, Aubre (Josh) Juez, and Steven Olive; great-grandchildren, Aedan Skinner, Bowen Skinner, Cooper Skinner, Gaige Braswell, Tess Braswell, Alex Braswell, Braelyn Braswell, Avery Braswell, and Raziel Juez; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
