Otis Wayne Reynolds

September 12, 1948 — December 12, 2024

Ramer

Otis Wayne Reynolds, 76, a resident of Ramer, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Bill Nichols State Veterans' Home on Thursday, December 12th, 2024. A graveside service for Otis will be held at 11 AM on Tuesday, December 17th, in Dublin Cemetery in Grady with Pastor Renae Pemberton and Brother Danny Reynolds officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.

Otis proudly served his country during the Vietnam Conflict with the United States Air Force and always held a deep and abiding love for his country throughout his days. After he was honorably discharged from the service, he went into the timber and logging business until his retirement. He was certainly a hard worker all his life and believed in the value of putting in a hard day's labor every day to make his free time even sweeter. In that free time, Otis was quick to find something to do in the great outdoors, especially if it involved fishing or running his bird dogs to hunt. He also continued to enjoy the music of his youth in the 60s and 70s, as well as Nascar and Auburn football.

Otis was the rare kind of individual who could be entirely happy and content with just his own company. One thing many didn't know is just how artistically gifted he was. Otis was a true artist with his drawing ability. Good enough, in fact, to get an offer of work from the Walt Disney Company! However, Otis's heart was with his home and family, especially the love of his life, Mary Sue. He was extremely proud of the three children they raised, but like any grandfather, those grandchildren and great-grandchildren who named him "Pappy" always held an extra special place in his heart. He taught them the importance of family, including having pride in their long history and indigenous roots to this land. He was the rock that family was built upon and, though he will be deeply missed, there is comfort to be found in the knowledge that he has been reunited with his beloved Mary Sue.

Otis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Sue Brown Reynolds; their granddaughter, Keely N. Reynolds; his parents, Otis Lee and Margaret Reeves Reynolds; and sister, Kay R. Stuckey. He is survived by his children, Wendy (Jimmy) Deese, Travis (LeAnn) Reynolds, and Renae (Jason) Pemberton; grandchildren, Nathan (Brianna) Reynolds, Garrett Reynolds, Ellie Pemberton, Isaac Pemberton, Shane (Dyana) Scrushy, and Daniel (Erika) Scrushy; great-grandchildren, Beckham Reynolds, Olivia Scrushy, Valerie Heartsill, Londyn Scrushy, Ember Scrushy, Landen Scrushy, Madison Means, Brianna Means, Colton Scrushy, Taylen Smith, Tinsley Smith, and Taylie Smith; siblings, Danny (Linda) Reynolds, Patsy (Ricky) Sanders, and Martha (Jim) Weston; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Nathan Reynolds, Garrett Reynolds, Travis Reynolds, Jason Pemberton, Doug Brown, and Glenn Davis.
