THOMAS, Mrs. Ottie Rae, 96, a resident of Highland Home, AL, died Friday, July 29, 2011. Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 31, 2011 at 2 PM from Sardis Church of Christ with ministers Charles Sipper, Jimmy Matthews, and Rev. William Leverette officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Thomas is preceded in death by her husband, Lomax Thomas, her parents, Johnny & Sally Owens, and two brothers, Georgia Owens and David Owens. She is survived by two children, Juanita (Roger) Beckham and Sybil (Cline) Tidwell; four grandchildren, Randy (Brooke) Beckham, Talena (Alan) Mobley, Cynthia (Timothy) Chance, and David Overstreet; and five great grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be Winston Farrior, John Thomas, Duane Causey, Alford White, Gilbert Rohan, James Owens, Tandall Tidwell, and Ken Flowers. Mrs. Thomas will lie-in-state at the church on Sunday for 30 minutes prior to services. The family will receive friends at Turner Funeral Home Saturday evening from 6 – 8 pm.
