Patricia Perdue Davis, 78, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, March 9, 2025, while surrounded by her family. A celebration of Pat's life will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 12th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Ashley W. Davis officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 PM.
Pat Davis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and she was also a gifted teacher, nurse, and writer. She was born 78 years ago and lived most of her life here in Luverne. She was a proud graduate of the Luverne High School Class of 1965 and went on to UAB to become a registered nurse in 1968. That same year, she married the love of her life, Billy Davis, with whom she enjoyed more than 56 years of marriage. Pat was a registered nurse in the early part of her career and worked at the Crenshaw County Public Health Department. She later became the Director of Nursing at the Luverne Nursing Home. After becoming a mother to Julie and Wes, she decided to leave nursing for a schedule that better suited her young family and decided to instead move on to educate others.
Pat went on to teach Health Occupations for 26 years....first with the Crenshaw County Vocational School and then at Luverne High School. She touched the lives of countless students and influenced the careers of healthcare professionals across the region. After retirement from teaching, she moved into the role of full-time grandmother, as well as part-time writer and gardener. She relished her time with her beloved grandson, Will Davis, and enjoyed her retirement to the fullest.
Pat was known throughout the community as the "Life is Good" lady. She always enjoyed writing and found an outlet for this passion through Facebook where she gained a large following as people were drawn to her sense of humor and her daily messages of positivity and encouragement. In her seventies, Pat was immensely proud to have published two books: Life is Common Ground and The Fifty-Year Love Story. Pat absolutely loved spending time with family - it was her greatest joy in life! She also enjoyed gardening, leisurely road trips to Destin, family game nights, and watching football - both college and high school. She was a very special person, beloved in her whole community, and will be sorely missed by all.
Pat was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Perdue and Guy Perdue. She is survived by her loving husband of over 56 years, Billy Davis; her children, Julie (Bill) Goetz and Wes (Tracy) Davis; her grandchildren, Will Davis, Tanner Watson, and Brook Watson; her brothers, Bob (Rita) Perdue, Jim (Sandra) Perdue, and Tom (Penny) Perdue; sister-in-law, Kay (Whit) Goolsby; seven nephews, two nieces, and a host of extended family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Luverne Public Library.
