Patricia Ann Morris

March 3, 1937 — November 10, 2025

Patricia Ann Morris, 88, a longtime resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Monday, November 10th, 2025. A graveside memorial service for Patricia will be held at 2 PM on Friday, November 14th, in Brantley Cemetery with Rev. Keith Morgan officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Patricia grew up in Opp, Alabama where she met and married the love of her life, Chester Glen Morris, before they moved to Brantley to establish a loving home in which to raise their family together. When their children were a bit older, Patricia began working as a seamstress in local textile factories. The work was hard but she thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie she had with her co-workers over the years. Plus, she was indeed a fabulous seamstress so she not only excelled in her job but brought her skills home to make beautiful dresses for her daughter and granddaughters. In her free time, she was an avid reader of all different types of genres and, while she was a creature of comfort who never enjoyed outdoor activities, she did love spending time on her front porch on Main Street so she could see what was going on around her in her little town often in the company of her best friends, Frances Mae Cornett & Doris Hooks.

Patricia, or "Sissy" as Chester first named her and many in the community adopted, was every inch a Southern lady. She rarely ever left her home without looking her very best, while she favored her comfortable & colorful dusters around the house. Her beauty on the outside was only surpassed by her beautiful and kind soul on the inside. She was also a woman of deep and abiding faith as a nearly lifelong member of Brantley Baptist Church. She especially enjoyed being a part of her LLL Sunday School Class and even taught classes herself. Patricia always enjoyed traveling with her dear friend, Ruth Warrick, but there was truly no place like home. Her family knew her door was always open for a compassionate ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on, and especially a bustling kitchen to keep your stomach full! No lie, there weren't many who could surpass Sissy's skills for good ol' Southern cooking, especially when it came to her delicious dressing and chicken & dumplings. She always knew how to make the holidays so very special over the years as her home was always the family gathering center, with Christmas being everyone's favorite time together. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, and "Nanny" to her truly beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was truly the center of her little corner of the universe as she was the bright, shining sun in their lives for all those who dearly loved her and she will be missed more than words could possibly express.

Patricia was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 39 years, Chester Glen Morris; parents, Jacob David & Ila Ruth Taylor Adams; and sister, Annette Johns. She is survived by her cherished children & their spouses, Michael Stephen & Lorrie Morris and Judy Morris & Kenneth Mitchell; grandchildren, Wade (Carrie) Morris, Anna (Mike) Brunson, CoCo (Brian) Salter, and Austin (Baylee) Mitchell; great-grandchildren, Cailey & Chloe Taylor, Ansley & Avery Brunson, Lucas & Bodie Salter, and Arlo & Stetson Mitchell; sister, Cynthia (Gregory) Hataway; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Charles Tompkins & his staff, the staff of Luverne Health & Rehabilitation, especially Hall Four, the nurses of Aveanna Hospice of Greenville for their dedicated and compassionate care of Patricia these last years as they brought comfort to both Pat and her family.

They request any memorial donations be made to Brantley Baptist Church, 9318 North Main Street, Brantley, Alabama 36009.
