Patsy Owens Brown

July 14, 1936 — March 30, 2021

Lapine

Mrs. Patsy Owens Brown, 84, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, surrounded by her family. A graveside service for Mrs. Brown will be held at 11 AM on Friday, April 2nd, in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Rev. Kenny Horn & Rev. Randy Harville officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mrs. Brown worked in administration for the State of Alabama until her retirement in 1989. She retired just in time to become a grandmother and happily spend her days helping to take care of them. In her free time, she proudly worked as a Pink Lady with Crenshaw Community Hospital for 8 years. She also visited the local nursing home once a month with her sewing machine so that she could mend items for the residents there. At home, she expressed her creative side through her sewing and quilting. In fact, she was so good at quilting that she won several county and state competitions with her work.

She was a dedicated member of New Ebenezer Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for numerous years and always lended a helping hand during Vacation Bible School every year. She also had a great love of music and singing. After her retirement, Mrs. Brown decided to learn a new skill, how to play the piano and even played some in her church. She also took pride in her yard and gardening every summer. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who adored her family more than anything else in this world. As much as her family grieves her leaving them, they find comfort in knowing she is now lovingly in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her parents, M.S. and Dell Summerlin Owens. She is survived by her husband, of 65 years, Kenneth E. Brown; two children, Teresa (Allen) Hatten and Trent (Jill) Brown; three grandchildren, Jesse Dempsey, Ethan Brown, and Alex Brown; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Jane Brown & Jackson Riley Brown; and sister, Bobbie Brown.

Active pallbearers will be Elton Brown, Randall Brown, Frank Brown, Doug Brown, Gary Owens, and Daniel Moseley. Honorary pallbearers will be Ethan Brown, Alex Brown, Jesse Dempsey, and Cline Tidwell.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Encompass Hospice, Dr. Charles Tompkins & his staff, and her caregivers, Linnie Moseley, Frances White, Deena Wilson, Renae Shuford, and Sarah Harrell, ,for their excellent care of Mrs. Brown.

They request that any memorial donations be made to the New Ebenezer Women’s Mission Union.
