Paul Ray Jones

December 17, 1944 — March 11, 2025

Luverne

Paul Ray Jones, 80, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025. Funeral services for Paul Ray will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, March 16th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Jerome "Bo" Weed officiating. He will then be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in Campground Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.

Paul Ray was born into a farming family and he remained a dedicated, hard-working farmer throughout his life, carrying on the family tradition. He was born with more challenges than others, but you could bet that the strong-willed, tenacious personality he was born with never let anything keep him down or stop him from doing what he wanted to do. He started attending the Alabama School for the Deaf at the age of 7 and graduated in 1967. A few years later, he found himself fortunate enough to meet his perfect match and the love of his life, Carol Ann Nolley, and they were married in 1979. Together they raised their children in their same mold: tough, hard-working, and determined to live life to its fullest no matter what.

While he was a lifelong member of Campground Methodist Church, he loved the opportunity he had to work with the deaf group at Southside Baptist Church in Troy for many years. No one could have asked for a better mentor than Paul Ray, or one who was more supportive with everything they did in life. That's just who Paul Ray was: unfailingly happy, supportive, and loving with all those he knew and loved. He was also the kind of person who never believed in a day off as he could always find something to keep him busy...especially if it meant doing his own remodeling on his house. You never knew what new wall or room you might find when you stopped by to visit because he knew how to build or fix anything! On Saturdays in the Fall however, you could bet he was gonna find a TV to catch the Alabama Crimson Tide excel on the gridiron. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to the family he loved more than anything else in this world, as well as being a faithful friend and dedicated Christian. The world has lost a truly incredible man who leaves behind a wonderful legacy for people to remember him by.

Paul Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Carol Ann Nolley Jones; parents, Paul Mitchell & Verby Kennedy Jones; and brother, James Leon Jones. He is survived by his children, Johnny (Stacey) Jones and Judy (Kent) Robertson; grandchildren, Zane (Alaina) Jones, Libbey Jones, Kennedy Robertson, and John Douglas Robertson; great-granddaughter, Eleanor Kate Jones; sister, Peggy Stephens; sister-in-law, Donna K. Jones; best friend, Morris Vanlandingham; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Zane Jones, Phillip Cornett, Jeff Wilkerson, Mitch McLeod, Eric Jones, Marino Bolling, John Douglas Robertson, and Cole McWhorter.
