Mrs. Peggy Godwin Johnson, 81, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Friday, October 7th, 2022. A graveside service for Mrs. Johnson will be held at 2 PM on Monday, October 10th, in Brantley Cemetery with Rev. Keith Morgan officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 - 1:30 PM on Monday.
Mrs. Johnson was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister throughout her life. While she worked as a beautician for several years, most of her life was committed to maintaining a happy and healthy home for her family. There were few things she enjoyed more than taking care of her home and working in her garden. She also thoroughly enjoyed cooking and preparing for her family, friends, and church family. She also loved expressing her creative side through painting and a distinct knack for decorating. Visitors to her home rarely found her without her beloved canine companion, Precious. Words cannot express how much she will be missed, but her family will find comfort in the knowledge that she is now happy and whole in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Willie Coston & Florene Stricklan Godwin, and siblings, Billy Godwin, Edward Godwin, and Linda Godwin. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, John E. "Pete" Johnson; their son & daughter-in-law, Michael & Alexa Johnson; grandson, Coston Johnson; and sister, Nan Free.
