Funeral services for Rachel will be held at 2 PM on Monday, August 31st, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Wingard Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday for one hour prior to the service.
Rachel was a born people person. She was naturally charismatic and gregarious with a warmth that was simply magnetic and drew people to her like moths to a flame. She simply loved people with all of her heart, which meant she never met a stranger. Did I mention Rachel liked to talk? Because, boy, did she like to talk....she'd even spend 15 minutes on the phone to a wrong number! But her personality was well suited to her many years spent in food service and she could definitely have taught a class on excellent customer service skills.
In her personal life, Rachel loved trips to the beach for the sun and sand or shopping trips, and any night spent playing bingo was a night well spent. She was also a brilliant cook with the best chicken, dressing, green bean casserole, and corn casserole you could find anywhere. Rachel had a true love of beauty in this cold, cruel world, even if she was highly allergic to the gorgeous flowers she loved well. And there was no one she loved spending time with like her sister-in-law and best friend, Rhonda, who later became such a doting and loving caregiver to her in the end. Above all, Rachel was a devoted wife, mother, and "Maw-Maw" to the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who captured her heart like no other. Words cannot express how deeply she loved and was loved in return, nor how much she will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Rachel was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Paul Funderburk; parents, Emmanuel Lee & Maggie Louise Abrams Williams; and siblings, Ronald Williams, Rosa Rowland, Raymond Williams, Randall Williams, Roland Williams, and Rita Ann Hataway. She is survived by her beloved husband of 43 years, Mickey Warren Mills; their sons, Lonnie Ray Mills and Mickey Warren (Lashell) Mills Jr; grandchildren, BreAnna Sage Mills, Nathan (Samantha) Grantham, Ashley (Kyle) Bradley, Savannah Alicia Mills, Madison Mills, and Ella Grace Mills; great-grandchildren, Wayde Matthew Nicholson, Jon Luke Grantham, Kase Lucas Bradley, Koen Bradley, Zayne Bradley, and Laya Bradley; brothers, Robert Williams and Roger (Rhonda) Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Dustin Williams, Braidee Beck, Dalton Acreman, Seth Rigsby, Mason Hataway, and Dustin Burnette.
