Ralph Earl Hussey, 78, a resident of Ramer, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Saturday, October 11th, 2025. A funeral service for Ralph will be held at 4 PM on Wednesday, October 15th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Dale Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday for one hour prior to the service.
Ralph proudly served his country with the United States Army guarding the DMZ in Korea. After his service, he eventually worked his way up to warehouse supervisor for AT&T, which is now Nokia, before he retired. In his free time, he loved any activity that kept him in the great outdoors he loved, whether it was hunting, fishing, or gardening. And his family and friends will tell you quickly that no one could grow better vegetables than Ralph. He grew up as a farmer so his favorite hobby became raising chickens. He was always such a fantastic role model for his family for what a good Christian man should be and for the value of hard work in your life. But now, don't go sit by him if you wanted to be petty or vengeful because he was gonna quickly remind you that "you don't have to be like everybody else." That's the kind of role model we all need in this life!
It's no surprise that he excelled in his occupation because there has rarely existed someone as easy to get along with as Ralph was. It's no hyperbole that literally everyone who ever met him loved him. He might have tended to be kinda quiet and reserved, but he also wore his heart on his sleeve. He was the person you turned to when you needed a listening ear or sympathetic shoulder to lean on. Now, just because he loved everybody and would give you the shirt off his back, that didn't mean he planned on being the life of the party or center of attention in big crowds. Oh no, you could bet that Ralph was subject to be scarce at times like that. If you needed him, you best look for him outside on a porch or deck, or wandering the yard. Still, how fortunate you were to be loved by Ralph because he absolutely loved with his whole heart and never failed to be there for the people who mattered to him. And no one mattered to him more than his family. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and "PawPaw" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those younger ones were definitely the largest part of his heart and they definitely knew it! No fancy words could ever hope to capture the momentous role Ralph played in the lives of all those who knew and loved him, nor how much he will be sorely missed.
Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Morgan Lane Hussey; parents, James & Susan Brooks Hussey; and siblings, Joseph Hussey, Fred Hussey, Frank Hussey, Minnie Kidd, and Beulah Davis. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 55 years, Mary Lee Hussey; their children, Jeremy (Atina) Hussey, Christopher (Vicki) Hussey, Anthony (Rachelle) Hussey; grandchildren, Kaylee (Jacob) Moates, Josie Hussey (Guntar Carter), Addison Hussey, Emily (Chase) Williams, Riley Armstrong, and Bethany (Josh) Boutwell; great-grandchildren, Ellie Williams and Baylon "Happy" Carter, who is due to arrive in November; his beloved canine companion, Harper; siblings, James Hussey, David (Charlotte) Hussey, Charles Hussey, Carroll (Stephanie) Hussey, Mandy Little, Agnes (Denzil) Barron, and Lois (Ken) Brandt; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
