Obituary

Ralph Webster Kelley Jr, 79, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, October 9th, 2026, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Ralph will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, October 13th, at New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Looney officiating. He will then be laid to rest beside his beloved wife in the church cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Ralph always believed in the value of hard work, whether he was proudly serving his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict or as a civilian in HVAC, construction, as a mechanic, or driving a truck. There was nothing Ralph wouldn't do to provide a good life for his family, and that included working the land when he was home from work to put food on both his table and anyone in the community who needed it. And, throughout his life, Ralph thoroughly enjoyed buying, selling, and training horses. For the majority of his life, he also loved playing music at honkytonks and private events all around, usually with his beloved family in tow.

Ralph's mornings usually began by meeting his friends for a cup of coffee so he could catch up on "the news".....because we all know men don't gossip, they discuss the "news." He was a people lover and watcher, and every stranger could become a good friend as soon as they met. He was always a dedicated and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who never failed to support his family in whatever activity they had going on, from sporting events to beauty pageants, no distance was too far for him to make sure he showed up and made them feel loved and supported. Words cannot express how much Ralph was loved and will be missed, but comfort will be found in the knowledge that he has been reunited, at last, with the love of his life, his L.G.

Ralph was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 57 years, Lacy Brown Kelley; son-in-law, Waylon Commander; parents, Ralph Webster Kellley Sr & Eunice Sexton Clayton; and sister, Dorthey Sue Reeves. He is survived by his children, Michelle (Travis) Bynog, Dorthey Commander, and Bubba (Amanda) Kelley; grandchildren, Johnathon (Niki) Bynog, JW (Kelsey) Bynog, Alexis (Shane) Donaldson, Cheyenne Commander, Dalton Commander, Bailey Kelley, Christopher Mosley, JD (Brooke) Mosley, Jacob (Tristan) Mosley; great-grandchildren, Adalind Bynog, Emo ry Donaldson, Lacey Donaldson, Jason Donaldson, Ryleigh Countryman, Pasleigh Bynog, Lindzie Stuckey, and Kolyn Stuckey; sisters, Shirley Ann King and Bobbie Jean Hudson; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Johnathon Bynog, JW Bynog, Dalton Commander, JD Mosley, Doug Brown, and Danny Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be Travis Bynog, Shane Donaldson, Christopher Mosley, and Jacob Mosley.
