Mr. Randy Beasley, 72, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away at the VA Medical Center in Birmingham on Monday, December 14, 2020. A graveside service for Mr. Beasley will be held 2 PM on Thursday, December 17th, in Sardis Cemetery with Brother Mason Halacker officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Beasley proudly served his country with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. After his service, went on to become a train conductor for CSX Railroad until his retirement. He was a strong pillar of his community as he and his wife took over and ran the family business, Beasley’s Grocery for many, many years, and he could always be counted on as one of Highland Home High School’s greatest supporters. Saturdays in the fall, he could be found cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, just as he did his beloved Squadron under the Friday night lights. He was also a dedicated member of Union Baptist Church and dearly loved his church family there. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who always put his family first above all else. He will be just as dearly missed as he was loved, but his family takes comfort that he is no longer suffering, but celebrating a joyful homecoming with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in Heaven.
Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his parents, Vanzie & Merlie Bradley Beasley, and his brother, Vandy “Chic” Beasley. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Sharon Kent Beasley; their four children, Randal (Rebecca) Beasley, Raina (Jayme) Yarroch, Shae (Derek) McCullough, and Shanna (Shannon) Malone; thirteen grandchildren, Randi Beasley, Kaycee Yarroch, Hunter McCullough, Sydney Malone, Owen McCullough, Noah Yarroch, Shelby Malone, Brady McCullough, Dalton Yarroch, Cole Beasley, Vanzee Yarroch, Steven Malone, and Kent Beasley; great-granddaughter, Everly Grace Nelson; and two sisters, Loretta (Ferrell) Holt and Rita Beasley.
Active pallbearers will be Hunter McCullough, Owen McCullough, Noah Yarroch, Brady McCullough, Dalton Yarroch, Cole Beasley, Steven Malone, and Kent Beasley. The men of Union Baptist Church and his former co-workers at CSX Railroad will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Randy Beasley Memorial Fund at First Citizens Bank, 17823 Montgomery Highway, Highland Home, Alabama 36041. The fund will be used to support both athletics and the Marching Band at Highland Home School.
