Rutledge

Mr. Jerry Randall “Randy” Sexton, 62, a resident of Rutledge, Alabama, passed away at Baptist Medical Center South on Sunday, March 7, 2021. A graveside service for Mr. Sexton will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, March 10th, in Ivy Creek Cemetery with Rev. Parker Bowen officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

Mr. Sexton always had a winning, outgoing personality to serve him well in life. He was rarely idle, preferring to keep busy even in his recreational time. He spent most of his working life on the road as a truck driver for various industries, including timber and wholesale grocery delivery. Spending so much time on the road, allowed him to indulge in listening to his favorite musical genre, country. His time on the road also meant that he knew to closely cherish the time he was able to spend with his family. He loved outdoor activities, including fishing and swimming, which he usually did with his grandchildren. He could often be found with his beloved wife, riding the various dirt roads in Crenshaw County, just indulging in their time together in the beautiful scenery of the country. He also loved strumming his favorite guitar at home. He loved nothing more than his family, and had a special adoration for his mother. His family was his world, and he will always hold a special place in all of their hearts.

Mr. Sexton was preceded in death by his grandson, Hunter Sexton, and his father, Eddie Sexton. He is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis B. Sexton; two children, Todd (Julie) Sexton and Kristi Golds; two stepchildren, Jessica (Brian) Holliday and Robyn (Mike) Jones; twelve grandchildren, Justin Sexton, Taylor Sexton, Courtney Minton, Haydon Minton, Emma Minton, Tori Golds, Faith Golds, Mackenzie Carlos, Jayden (Hayley) Carlos, Jailen Jones, Austin Jones, and Jamari Jones; his mother, Becky (Colin) Montgomery; brother, David Allen (Lesa) Sexton; and the mother of his children, Barbara Moore.

Active pallbearers will be Mickey Horn, Stan Petty, Roddy Campbell, Chadwick Peavy, Albert Moseley, and Scott Lansdon. Honorary pallbearers will be Kristy Weaver, Leo Goldsmith, Ed Estes, and Jamari William Richard Jones.
