Ray Nell Mathews Weed

WEED, Mrs. Ray Nell Mathews, 88, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Friday, September 8, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Weed will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 10, at Weed Baptist Church with Rev. Ed Russell and Rev. C.P. Davis officiating. Interment will follow in Weed Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Weed was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Weed, granddaughter, Kimberly Tompkins, parents, Dewey H. and Ianthia Frazier Mathews, and brother, Bill Mathews. She is survived by her three children, Linda Tompkins, Larry (Wanda) Weed, and Terri (Bill) Marler, five grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and two sisters, Mozell Cunningham and Charlotte Willis. Active pallbearers will be Ricky Weed, Tommy Weed, Marc Tompkins, Shon Searcy, Thomas Weed, Harrison Weed, and Ethan Weed. Justin Hughes, Jimmy Beasley, and Kaleb Weed will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday from 1:30 – 2pm.
