Raymond "Donnie" Wilkerson, 73, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, March 5th, 2026. Services will be held at 4 PM on Friday, March 13th, at Brantley Baptist with Harry Driggers, a close friend and longtime chief of the fire department under whom Donnie proudly served for many years, officiating.

Donnie was a Georgia native and a retired Lieutenant with the Volunteer Fire and Rescue, where he spent many years serving and helping others. He also retired from the State of Alabama where he worked under their military department to work on construction projects at bases all around the state. He had the strength, stamina, and resolve of Georgia granite, but underneath that steadfast constitution beat one of the softest and most loving hearts around. Known for that kind heart and easygoing nature, he believed in doing his best for those around him and took pride in caring for his community. Ken Gaines and Eddie Swazy, his "brothers from another mother," meant the world to him. He never met a stranger and was loved by many who had the privilege of knowing him.

Donnie was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline W. Wilkerson; parents, George Wilkerson Jr and Lily Sadie Fields Walk; and siblings, George Patrick Wilkerson and Sally Brenda Daniels. He is survived by his children, Raymond Wilkerson Jr and Mary Alice Williams; grandchildren, Sarah Wilkerson, Carolyn Wilkerson, and Crystal Layton; great-grandchildren, MJ Layton and Hazel Layton; siblings, Elaine Moore, Susan (Dean) Baker, and Ronnie (Rhemy) Wilkerson; a sister of the heart, Alma Sweatman; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
