Reba Colleen Boswell

November 12, 1955 — August 17, 2021

Brantley

Reba Colleen Liller Boswell, 66, a longtime resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away suddenly on August 17, 2021 due to Covid. Given the ongoing pandemic and its far-reaching effects, a memorial service has not been scheduled at this time.

Reba was born in Naples, Italy on November 12, 1955. Her father was in the United States Air Force and she often spoke proudly of the places her father’s career took their family. Her first years included an Italian nanny and, even in her adult years, Reba could still speak and understand a small bit of the Italian language. Reba’s parents collected mementos from each area they lived in. She proudly displayed many of these items, including steins from Germany where her beloved brother Leslie was born and from where both her mother and father’s family hailed. Her love for horses began when they lived in Oklahoma where she would walk to the stables after school. Reba was about 14 years of age when they were stationed in Alaska where she thoroughly enjoyed ice fishing with her father. His ice fishing pole was one of her most prized possessions and hung proudly in her game room. Reba’s happy place was on a river or pond bank with a fishing pole in her hand. She was one with nature and enjoyed walks in the woods. Reba was very knowledgeable about flowers and liked keeping her yard and porch--which was her refuge--filled with blooms and greenery. She had a tender heart for all animals, especially her dogs, cats, chickens, and peacocks. She also volunteered at Animal Tails Rescue from time to time.

Reba worked many years in the sewing factory and received a degree in upholstery after the factory closed. She re-covered dental chairs for several years and, at one time, worked in management for a lamp and furniture manufacturer. She worked in management for other retail companies as well. During her most recent semi-retired years, she enjoyed working part time for Ramey’s grocery store and Papa’s Place curb market.

Reba thought outside the box. She also loved with her whole heart, and judged no one. Although she enjoyed being a homebody, Reba was quick to take action to help her friends and family when needed.

Reba was so proud of her son, Cody, and was ecstatic about the recent birth of her first grandson. She was looking forward to teaching him how to fish, and could not wait to be called Nana. She will be thoroughly missed by all that knew her.

Reba was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie John “Bus” Liller and Edna Earl Shows Liller, as well as her aunts Dolly Pilgreen, Chris Carter, and Katherine Kersker. She is survived by her son, Cody Ryan Boswell (Desney Moore); her first biological grandson, Cooper Ryan Boswell; her grandsons gifted to her by Desney, Waylon and Jackson Hallmark; her brother, Leslie Liller (Tammy); her nieces, Elissa Liller Norrman (Matt) and Jessica Sanders Cannady; a nephew, Tony Liller; close family friends, Edwin and Genese Mitchell; her very best friend/sister, Haley Mitchell Godwin (Shan), and many special friends and extended family.

The family requests that memorial donations be made in her name to Animal Tails Rescue, 408 Lee Street, Luverne, Alabama 36049, or through their PayPal account: animaltailsrescue@gmail.com.
