Richard Earl Till, 58, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 22nd, 2023, while surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services for Richard will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 27th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Brother Bill Graeff officiating. Interment will follow in Sardis Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, December 26th, from 6 to 8 PM.
Richard was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama, where he met and married his childhood sweetheart & the love of his life, Lisa Riley, before eventually settling in Highland Home to continue raising their family with all the love in their hearts. He spent most of his working career with Blue Bell Creamery before moving to the construction industry, where he worked his way up to the supervisory role of superintendent. In his free time, Richard loved spending time outside, especially when it came to deer and turkey hunting, and on Saturdays in the Fall, he could be found cheering on his beloved Auburn Tigers to victory on the gridiron. Be wary of his best hunting stories, however, because they usually only got bigger and bigger with every single retelling! His partner in crime during most of his shenanigans was his brother, Donnie, as those two were usually inseparable. Obviously, any activity, whether work or recreational, that kept Richard out in the beautiful majesty of God's creation was good with him.
Richard had a personality as big to match his heart. He was the gregarious sort with a phenomenal sense of humor. He delighted in teasing the people he loved, because that was his love language and there was nothing better than getting a smile and laugh out of someone. He was the rough and tumble type, who wasn't afraid to raise a little hell when he was in the mood or needed to, but he also taught his children to give their hearts and faith to the Lord Above in all things. There was no one he loved more than his family, and he was never afraid to put that love on display for everyone to see. Once again, he instilled in his children the importance of unconditional love because they were always his pride and joy. Of course, the best part of his life was when they made him "Grampy" to their own children and grandchildren. He adored every single one of those babies with all that he had. He was the rock his family was built upon and they loved him back just as fiercely as he loved them. Words cannot express how much they will miss him, but they know he is in a much better place and will continue to live on in the legacy he leaves behind in their hearts and minds.
Richard was preceded in death by his daughter, Ashley Evans; father, Rufus Till; brother, Brandon Till; and grandparents, Lenny Pouncey Till & Ezra Griffin. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Lisa Riley Till; children, Eric (Blair) Till and Crystal Till; grandchildren, Alexis Evans, Dynasty Luster, Jayden Evans, Harlee Evans, Tyler Warren, Reece Till, Adalyn Till, and Rayleigh Peyton Till; great-grandchildren, Asher, Aaliyah, and Kyson; mother, Jo Anne Betts Tomlinson; siblings, Donnie (Tracie) Ferrell, Tony (Amy) Till, Cecil Ferrell, Michelle Ferrell Caver, and Michael (Jodi) Parker; grandmother, Jackie Griffin; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
