IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert Joseph
Duby
February 13, 1943 – March 5, 2026
Robert Joseph Duby, 83, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, March 5th, 2026. A celebration of Bobby's life will be held back in his hometown in Tennessee at a later time.
Bobby was born in Ohio and raised in his beloved Tennessee where he earned his doctorate in Educational Psychology & Measurement from the University of Tennessee. He taught for a few years, but eventually found his calling working for Harcourt Brace & the Psychological Corporation designed and marketing standardized tests. Though deeply introverted, Bobby simply came alive when he had to step into the spotlight for his job. Put him on a stage with a microphone in his hand and he could have sold those tests to a pride of lions. It's no wonder he was honored as salesman of the year 12 years in a row by his company before a stroke forced him into retirement. Don't weep for him though because that allowed him to spend many years traveling with his beloved wife, Joan, all over the United States and do so many wonderful things together. In fact, there wasn't much they didn't do together after his retirement, and she was by his side as he passed on to his heavenly reward. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who was loved completely and will be missed beyond measure.
Bobby was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Clarence Joseph & Edna Blanch Rayburn Duby, and brothers, Timothy Duby & Lawrence Duby. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joan Willis Duby; children, Elizabeth Duby (David) Robertson, Rebecca Duby Boyd, Emory Meredith Jr, Rachel Connerton, Robin Strange, Toni Meredith, and Leslie (Michael) Kelley; grandchildren, Callie Robertson (Jose) Hardman, Sam Boyd, Cooper Boyd, Kevin Connerton, Emory Meredith III, Amelia Kelley, Thomas Kelley, and John Kelley; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
