HAMM, Mr. Robert Rex, 84, a resident of Tallahassee, Florida, passed away on Saturday, September 10, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 12 PM on Tuesday, September 13, in Bethlehem Cemetery in Lapine, Alabama with Rev. Nathan Skipper officiating and Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mr. Hamm was preceded in death by his parents, Chester Ray and Sarah Merless Hamm, and daughter, Donna Rushton Hendrick. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mary Pearl Hall Hamm, three daughters, Jacquelyn H. (Chris) Couch, Mary Lynn Anderson, and Debbie (Jimmy) Payne, six grandchildren, Mora Couch, Angela Brewer, Denise Ingoldsby, Jay Payne, Robbie Cowles, and Michael Cowles, numerous great-grandchildren, two sisters, Sarah Nell Watkins and Carol (Buddy) Teague, and brother-in-law, Wayne (Delores) Hall. Mr. Hamm graduated from Montgomery County High School where he received the Bausch-Lomb Award and was the top student in mathematics. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict as a member of the United States Army. After his service, he attended Alabama Christian College and went to work at First National Bank in Montgomery. He would continue in the banking industry in both Demopolis and Baldwin County. Mr. Hamm later retired from Thompson Tractor Company. He was an avid golfer, and he spent his retirement working as a ranger at the Seminole Country Club golf course in Tallahassee, Florida. He served as a deacon of Tallahassee Christian Church for many years, and he was loved by all who knew him. The family will receive friends at Turner Funeral Home on Tuesday from 10 – 11 AM.
