Mr. Ronald “Ronnie” Wayne Coggins, 74, a resident of Dozier, Alabama and formerly of Luverne, passed away peacefully at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation on Friday, January 15, 2021.
Mr. Coggins proudly served his country with the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict, and later would retire from the Air Force 357th Reserve Unit. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Troy State University in Criminal Justice. He worked in different fields throughout his life, with his last job was in aviation as a lead structural mechanic. In his free time, Mr. Coggins had a wide variety of interests. He was an avid fisherman who loved the outdoors in general. He loved sailing in Florida whenever he got the opportunity, and enjoyed riding his motorcycle for years. Above all, he was a dedicated father, grandfather, and brother who loved his family dearly and those friends who had become family.
Mr. Coggins was preceded in death by his parents, Percy Jr and Christine Franklin Coggins. He is survived by his two sons & daughters-in-law, Mark & Melissa Coggins and Jason (Laura) Coggins; four grandchildren, Ian Coggins, Sean Coggins, Ava Coggins, & William Coggins; three brothers, David (Dianne) Coggins, Clark (Debi) Coggins, and Terry Coggins (Michael Parks); and multiple nieces & nephews.
The family will hold a memorial service at a later date.
