Zion Cemetery in Brantley with Turners Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.
Sally was born on June 14, 1935, to the late Marvin Clifford and Vernie Norsworthy. She worked tirelessly to help provide her family with all their needs and many of their wants. She was a skilled seamstress from working years in the textile industry sewing everything from gloves to shirts to slacks. She could make anything from doll clothes to clothes for the family and curtains. She altered many garments for friends and family by taking in a seam or letting it out, placing a dart here or there, and hemming anything that needed it. She was able to do it all.
In addition to her passion for sewing, her interests and hobbies included gardening, both vegetables and flowers. Many meals were prepared from home grown vegetables, either fresh, frozen, and/or canned. Cooking was Sally's love language, and she always enjoyed treating her guests to every scrumptious dish to leave her kitchen. She was so gifted that she could prepare a meal on a minute's notice without breaking a sweat. She loved flowers and plants of all types, colorful annuals and perennials, and many kinds of lilies. Her favorite had to be daylilies. When someone offered a unique plant or one she did not have, she could not refuse it. She loved to quilt and would make quilts of many different patterns from scraps of fabric saved from other sewing projects. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members, friends, and some nursing home patients were the happy recipients of her quilts. Sally also enjoyed reading when she had time and could work it into her busy life. Above all, she was a loving, nurturing, and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister who was loved and will be missed beyond measure.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Herbert F. Smith; grandson, Derrick Smith; brothers, Earl, Bill, Reddox, Wilson, and Bobby Norsworthy; and sisters, Ona Mae Boswell, Olene Amerson, Baby Girl Norsworthy, Ruth Cotton, and Phyllis Armstrong.
She is survived by her children, Sue (John) Ivey, Terry (Ruth) Smith, and Tony Smith; grandchildren, Adam (Karen) Smith, Lance (Lauren) Ivey, Katie Smith, and Leigh Anna (Bagby) Hall; great-grandchildren, Jordan Smith, Jayden Smith, Caden Pirkle, Blake Pirkle, Alyssa Pirkle, Josh Smith, and the youngest, Ivey Hall; brother, Phillip W, Norsworthy; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Serving as pallbearers will be Adam Smith, Lance Ivey, Bagby Hall, James Borders, Jordan Smith, and T. J. Defee.
