Samuel Bernard Noblin

April 8, 1946 — October 30, 2026

Samuel Bernard Noblin, 80, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away at home on Friday, October 30th, 2026, while surrounded by his family. A celebration of Sam's life will be held at 3 PM on Sunday, November 1st, at Brantley Baptist Church with Rev. Wesley Hatcher officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.

Sam proudly served his country for 23 years with the Alabama National Guard. He spent 47 years working as a butcher and also served as the custodian at Brantley Baptist Church for around 15 years. Sam was a hardworking man who loved his family, took pride in everything he did, and never met a stranger. He could strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and it seemed like everywhere he went, he either ran into someone he knew or made a new friend.

When he wasn't working, Sam enjoyed turkey hunting, playing golf with his buddies on Wednesdays, and taking care of his yard. And when it came to that yard, he was a particular man! The grass had to be cut just right, in just the right direction, and nobody could quite do it to his satisfaction. He even kept his lawnmower washed and waxed....that's right, his lawnmower. That same attention to detail carried over to his vehicles, which were washed and detailed every week. In fact, Sam wasn't about to take one of his clean vehicles down a dirt road and, if he did, it was probably a matter of life and death! He kept his home just as spotless, and his family joked that he could wear out a vacuum cleaner in six months.

Sam also enjoyed a good steak and had quite a sweet tooth, but nothing meant more to him than his family. He loved them dearly and was so proud of each of them. Known affectionately as "Pa" to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was especially proud to see his name carried on through his son and brand new baby great-grandson. Sam was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, took pride in a job well done, and always had time for a good conversation. He will be dearly missed by the family and friends who loved him.

Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Harlan Noblin & Rochelle Mitchell Segrest. He is survived by his beloved spouse of 62 years, Shirley Boykin Noblin; children, Sandra (Scott Ross) Adams, Sammy (Jill) Noblin, and Sherry (Paul) Cook; grandchildren, Jonathan (Kevyn) Ross, Meredith (Chris) Boguski, Emily (Patrick) Whitehurst, Susannah (Dalton) Lowery, Hunter Blackmon, Bo (Emma) Cook, Asa Blackmon, Axel Blackmon, and Braelyn Blackmon; great-grandchildren, Bennett Boguski, Maryn Blackmon, Griffin Ross, and Samuel Lowery; siblings, John Wallace Noblin; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
