Sara Virginia Carr

September 3, 1934 — November 22, 2022

Montgomery

Mrs. Sara Ballard Carr, 88, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully at Jackson Hospital on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022. A graveside service for Sara will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, November 26th, in Campground Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 9:30 - 10:30 AM.

Sara spent much of her adult life devoted to raising her family in a loving environment wherever they happened to be amidst their many moves. In her later life, she was also the manager of a furniture store where she proved just what a hard worker a "homemaker" could be. She was a sweet, caring soul, but never mistake that for weakness because she was also as feisty and strong-willed as she could be. She could always be counted on to handle whatever crisis raising two rambunctious boys brought her way with aplomb and grace. Sara thoroughly enjoyed her life, no matter where she was or what she was doing. She was a great bowler and loved few things more than dancing with the love of her life, Jimmy. Ultimately, Sara was truly as good as gold and loved her family and friends with every fiber of her being. Words cannot express how much she will be missed, but her loved ones will find comfort in the wonderful, long, and full life she lived.

Sara was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Kennedy Carr Sr; parents, Grover C. Ballard & Iona Boswell Hawlett; and brother, George "Buddy" Ballard. She is survived by her two loving sons, Ken Carr & Andy (Stephanie) Carr; grandchildren, Andy (Amber) Carr Jr, Bethany (Josh) Boutwell, Dylan Carr, Brooke Carr, Tori Hughes, and Courtney Hughes; great-grandchildren, Alayna, Alyssa, Ansley, Jaxon, Emme, Cheyenne, and Sawyer; brother, Vince (Carol) Ballard; sister-in-law, Jeanette Ballard-Compton; nieces, Shannon Thies and Wendy (Michael) Spivey; nephew, Wade Ballard; and great-niece, Kelsey (Hershell) Smith.
