Sara Kate "Katie" Norton, of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Funeral services for Katie will be held at 11 AM on Friday, May 15th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Praytor officiating. Interment will follow in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing the services. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday for one hour prior to the service.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Anita Sasser and Franky Norton, who survives her. Katie was a cherished sister to Daniel Norton and Jeremy Norton, and a devoted aunt, their "Kate Bug" who loved her nieces and nephews as if they were her own children. She is also survived by her grandmother, Mary Norton, with whom she lived and shared a deep and loving bond.
A proud graduate of Luverne High School, Class of 2000, Katie went on to earn her bachelor's degree in accounting from Troy University. She later completed her law degree at Barry University School of Law, a testament to her determination, intelligence, and commitment to bettering herself. Katie was up for any adventure and loved to travel. From bar crawls in Savannah to hot dogs in Dodger Stadium and tattoos in L.A., coffee in Seattle, and hot chocolate in New York City, Katie experienced it all and loved every moment of it.
Katie was known for her kindness, her steady strength, and the deep love she carried for her family and friends. She had a nurturing spirit and a generous heart, always ready to support the people she cared about. Her nieces and nephews were the joy of her life, and to them she was more than an aunt - she was a guiding presence and a second mother.
She is survived by her father, Franky; her brothers, Daniel and Jeremy; her beloved nieces and nephews; her grandmother, Mary Norton; and many friends who felt like family. She was preceded in death by her mother, Anita.
Active pallbearers will be Cas Sasser, Levi Sasser, Daniel Tucker, Daniel Norton, Jeremy Norton, and Adam Sport.
