Mrs. Sarah Ruth Kelley Davis, 85, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly at Crenshaw Community Hospital on Tuesday, November 22nd, 2022. Funeral services for Sarah will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, November 27th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Defee and Rev. Terry Marler officiating. Interment will follow in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside the love of her life, with Rev. Thomas Kelley officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Sarah was a gifted musician and played the bass with her family bluegrass & gospel band. They thoroughly enjoyed traveling and performing together throughout the years. Professionally, she worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for much of her life and truly loved caring for all of her patients. She was also a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved nothing more than raising and caring for her family. Sarah had a fondness for a simple and uncomplicated life, though she made sure she always had her phone with her no matter what she was doing or where she went. Her favorite place in the world was the little retreat she had with her husband in Kinston. There she could indulge in her passion for ducks and just renew her spirit through the beauty of the world the Lord created. Words cannot express how much she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her, but they will find comfort in the lifetime of memories they built together.
Sarah was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Billy Davis; parents, Will & Mattie Tucker Kelley; and siblings, Irene Thompson, Lillie Wathen, Betty Bryson, Scenner Ruth Kelley, Ruby Burgans, Pearl Kelley, Mary Mobley, John Kelley, and J.D. Kelley. She is survived by her cherished daughter & son-in-law, Lisa & Steve Defee; granddaughter, Erica (Josh) Saunders; great-grandchildren, Axton Saunders and Jordan Saunders; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Active pallbearers will be Mike Beck, Al Coggins, Scott Thierofelder, James Vickery, Josh Saunders, Charles Lowery, and Axton Saunders.
