Mr. Marshall Scott Fowler, 59, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away suddenly on Saturday, February 23, 2019. Funeral services for Scott will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 26, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Clay Crum and Rev. Jud Flint officiating. Interment will follow in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Scott was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He could do almost anything with his hands, but what he enjoyed most was picking his guitar. He always had a special talent for music, and enjoyed expressing himself through the songs he wrote. Though he always possessed and used his musical talent, he enjoyed it most after he gave his life to Jesus. He spent the last 14 years of his life using his God-given talent to honor his Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Scott played and sang with many different musicians at churches and other events that either were evangelistic or helpful to someone in serious need. Scott’s desire was for people to enjoy his music and find the peace, joy, and hope that he had found through his relationship with Jesus. Scott always enjoyed life and loved making people laugh. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Gladys Sims Fowler. Scott is survived by his loving wife, Peggy Parker Fowler; six children, Misty (Jon) Morgan, Mark Garret (Tiffany) Fowler, Terri (Kevin) Bowden, Carlina (Chris) Childs, Kelly Boyd, and Deanna (Ryan) Gibson; twelve grandchildren, Maggie Morgan, Jamie Morgan, Whitney Mills, John Bowden, Haley Bowden, Blake Childs, Marley Childs, Katelynn Eddins, Madison Eddins, Tanner Eddins, Olivia Gibson, and Maddox Gibson; three great-grandchildren; his sister, Gail (Calvin) Bowden; two nieces, Pam (Tony) Wood and Sabrina (Steve) Lawrence; and numerous other extended family members and friends.
Active pallbearers will be Donald Nichols, Mitch Davis, Kyle Richburg, Charles Hammonds, Greg Bowden, Marvin Bolling, and Johnny Kilpatrick. The City of Luverne Street and Sanitation Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6 - 8pm.
