Selena Lee Hughes

Glenwood

Selena Lee Hughes, 46, a resident of Glenwood, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 31st, 2024. Funeral services for Selena will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 5th, at Glenwood Baptist Church with Rev. Greg Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Providence Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 12:30 to 2 PM.

Selena was an absolute blessing in the lives of all those who knew her, whether they were family through blood or love, friends, or co-workers. She was extremely generous in heart and spirit; simply just one of the most selfless people you could ever be fortunate enough to meet. You couldn't walk into Selena's home or life without feeling welcome and wanted, and that's a rare quality in the world these days. She was just such a fun person who knew how to make anything a good time because she was always so happy and upbeat. She was also blessed with a phenomenal sense of humor, and you knew she liked you if she found things to tease you about!

Selena enjoyed being on the go, especially if going meant heading to one of her favorite places: the beach! She was a big supporter of the Troy Trojans as a season ticket holder and always had a blast on gamedays. However, she also treasured all the time she was able to spend at home surrounded by family and friends, whether it was throwing some steaks on the grill or just sitting around a small campfire in the backyard. See, Selena knew the most important thing in life were the times spent with the people she loved the best, regardless of what they were doing. She was a devoted wife and mother, with her daughter being her absolute pride and joy. There was nothing in this world she loved more than her family and they adored her just as much. Words cannot express how much she meant to all of them nor how much she will be sorely missed. The world is certainly a less warm and bright place from her absence.

Selena was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gladys Enzor, and mother-in-law, Becky Hughes. She is survived by her loving spouse of 24 years, Danny Hughes; their beloved daughter, Caitlin Hughes; father, Ray Dixon; mother by love, Catha Owens; father-in-law, Steve Hughes; brother, Jeremy (Ariel) Dixon; brother-in-law, Jason (Angela) Hughes; niece, Meagan Hughes; nephews, Daniel Allan Dixon and Cole (Anne) Hughes; and a host of extended family and friends.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to Glenwood Baptist Church, 79 Dyer Street, Glenwood, Alabama 36034.
