Shelley Hughes Crews

November 11, 1950 — February 2, 2025

Panama City

Shelley Hughes Crews, 74, a resident of Panama City, Florida and formerly of Letohatchee and Montgomery, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 2nd, 2025, while surrounded by her family. Funeral services for Shelley will be held at 10 AM on Thursday, February 6th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home. She will then be laid to rest beside her husband in Oak Hill Cemetery in Oneonta, Alabama at 3 PM that day with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.

I can tell you one thing, once you met Shelley Crews you weren't likely to forget her! Strong-willed, independent, and fun-loving, times were never boring when she was around. You never knew what was going to happen next whether it was throwing highly flammable items by accident into the burn pile or learning how to ride a motorcycle, Shelley always kept you on your toes! But she had a unique drive to succeed and refusal to ever give up that guaranteed she was going to be successful in life. Like many other Air Force "brats" she certainly learned how to adapt to any circumstances so nothing could hold her back, which worked well for her during her 40 years working in information technology with US Foods.

In her free time, Shelley loved spending time with both her family and dear friends. She was certainly a city girl through and through, loving the hustle and bustle of all the activity around her, but she loved her husband enough to follow him to country living in Letohatchee after he retired. She loved to travel, especially to the beach for girls' weekends with her dearest friends, and to host/attend bonfire parties with other couples. Shelley also loved riding both her horses and motorcycles, her treasured canine companions, Tanner & Dude, and was always a devout Catholic throughout her life. And, no doubt, Amazon will surely be in mourning due to loss of such a valued and frequent customer!

Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who cherished every moment she was able to spend with her family. This "Grandma" loved few things more than attending all the sporting and other activities her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. They knew they could always count on her love and support, which always meant the world to all of them. Words cannot express how much she will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her so dearly, but they know she is happily reunited with the love of her life in their heavenly reward.

Shelley was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Billy Crews; parents, Harold Charles & Lema June Corbin Hughes; and sister, Pam Atkinson. She is survived by her children, Niccole (Jason) Shepherd and Robert Crews; grandchildren, Blair (Eric) Till, Danielle (Daniel) Daughterty, Jordan (Colton) Clock, and Makayla Shepherd; great-grandchildren, Adalyn Grace Till, Reece Till, Rayleigh Payton Till, Ashlynn M. Hill, Aspyn Clock, Whitley Clock, and little Gentry Clock soon to make her arrival; siblings, Donna Coleman, Patrick Hughes, Michael Hughes, and Roy Hughes; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Eric Till, Brian Dungan, Justin Dungan, Evan Crews, Bobby Crews, and (Little) Evan Crews.
