Shirley Renee Stevens

Mrs. Shirley Renee Stevens, 58, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully in Dozier, Alabama surrounded by her family on January 11th, 2023.

Shirley was definitely a one of a kind who was a gift in the lives of all those who knew her. You could depend on her to always love and accept you no matter what without any judgment, which is certainly a rarity in this world. Her heart was as big as the world, and it helped make her the foundation of her family. Shirley was also incredibly intelligent and put herself through school to earn her associate's degree in order to work as a paralegal for many years. That hard work extended to her free time at home. She was famous for always looking for a new project to begin around her house, even if she wound up needing help to complete it afterwards! She was musically talented as well, and enjoyed playing the piano at Brunson Chapel United Methodist Church. Music was a central part of her life and loved introducing her children and others to her favorite genres, especially the legends of Classic Rock. Shirley was blessed with many other gifts, including a love of drawing to express her creative side. Above all though, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She was the rock of her family and truly treasured every single one of them. Her grandchildren were definitely her favorites though! There was nothing she loved more than spending time with them and they made cherished memories together that they will carry throughout their lives.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Gregory Allen Stevens; parents, William Clifton Sr & Shirley Virginia Rice Veit; and sister, Pamela Elaine Veit. She is survived by her loving children, Gregory Allen Stevens II and Tiffany Stevens (Rodney Sanchez Wiley); grandchildren, Jayla Renee Stevens, Sommer Renee Chambers, and one more on the way; brother, William "Bill" (Kelly) Clifton Veit Jr; nieces, Amanda (Tim) Wallace and Brittany Veit (Josh Maddox); nephew, Shawn Smart; and great-nephew, Jeremiah Maddox.
