Sonny Tossie

Mr. Fred Eugene “Sonny” Tossie, 84, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama and formerly of Colorado, passed away suddenly at Crenshaw Community Hospital in Luverne on Friday, June 18, 2021..

Mr. Tossie was a born extrovert. He loved people and always preferred a hug over a handshake. He was an easy person for people to love, and therefore always had a large circle of close friends to spend time with. In his free time, he enjoyed playing drums as well as golf, and he could often be found at his favorite fishing hole. While he enjoyed living in Alabama the last few years, he never forgot his beloved Denver Broncos. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family more than anything else. He was certainly loved by them in return and will be dearly missed.

Mr. Tossie was preceded in death by his son, Brock Tossie; parents, Fred Eugene & Irene Goldsmith Tossie; and uncle & aunt, Chester & Pattie Tossie. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Linda K. South Tossie; five children, Jeff Tossie, Jay (Dan) Sykes, Brett Tossie, Natasha (Gene) Sines, and Tracey Wright; ten grandchildren, Tyler Sykes, Jarred Sykes, Rachel Webber, Hannah Vinton, Brandy (Elliott) Harris, Sydney (Brandon) Sampley, Eugene Sines, Mike Anderson, Lyssa Anderson, and Sonnie Tossie; ten great-grandchildren; and his sister, Beverly Zellner.

The family will have a private celebration of his life at a later time.
