Stella Grace Cobb

Rutledge

Stella Grace Boutwell Cobb, 64, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024. Funeral services for Stella will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, February 6th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Rev. Dunford Cole officiating. She will then be laid to rest beside her beloved husband in Centenary Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday for one hour prior to the service.

Stella was a lifelong lover of music. In fact, that love also led her to the love of her life as she met her husband, Leland, when she went to Greenville to watch a band play, not knowing she'd lose her heart to the guitar player! They spent the whole night talking and only a year later wound up eloping to the courthouse so they would never have to be parted again. Stella's love of music was varied and enduring, but no one could ever replace the great Elvis Presley or KC and the Sunshine Band in her heart. She was also blessed with a head for numbers and was the rare individual who found joy in simply figuring numbers. She had countless notebooks where she had just spent time adding, subtracting, and such for entertainment. Otherwise, she enjoyed spending her time putting together complicated puzzles or solving various crossword puzzles. Stella had a gregarious nature and loved to talk to anyone, but you'd best leave her alone while she was keeping up with The Young & The Restless! If she wasn't watching her "stories," then she was probably getting a laugh out of the antics of Scooby Doo and his gang or trying to figure out Unsolved Mysteries or ghost stories.

As mentioned, Stella had an outgoing and talkative personality, so she never really met a stranger. She was going to keep you entertained with all of the stories of her life, especially when it came to those that involved all of the children she had helped raise over the years. Until she started school, I have no doubt everyone was kept in stitches by the English accent she had picked up from her immigrant mother! Stella was also blessed with a big, open heart for everyone who needed her. She was kind and generous to a fault and especially loved putting her cooking skills to work to feed anyone who needed it. You were definitely in for a treat if she made her delicious homemade spaghetti for you. As naturally social as she was, there was still no place she'd rather be than her home, which earned her the nickname "Housecat" from her family. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who cherished her family with every single inch of her huge heart. She was the heart and soul of her family and words cannot express how much she will be missed, but they are comforted by the knowledge that she has not only reunited with her beloved Leland, but she also finally gets to meet Elvis!

Stella was preceded in death by her husband of almost 30 years, Leland Cobb; parents, Woodrow & Teresa Norkett Boutwell; and siblings, Emmie Lynch, Debra Scruggs, David Boutwell. She is survived by her son, Christopher Leland Cobb (Amber Warlick); grandchildren, Nicholas Leland Cobb, Hope Warlick, Katherine Warlick, and Christian Warlick; siblings, Michael Woodrow Boutwell and Mary Whittle; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Eddie Bice, Dustin Reid, Austin Raines, Brent Raines, and Andrew Perdue Jr.
