Mrs. Susan West Bass, 71, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, September 12, 2020.
Mrs. Bass spent her life taking care of others. She first went to work at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation, before going to work at the Chicken Shack full-time. Affectionately known by everyone as “Miss Sue,” she spent over 30 years there at the Shack. She was a mainstay there and always had a smile for everyone. She became famous for warmingly assuring her customers that she’d have their food out to them “in about 15 minutes.” She was sorely missed by both her co-workers and regular customers after her retirement. Her family and friends will cherish all the wonderful memories they made with her over a lifetime.
Mrs. Bass was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Melissa Ann Williams; parents, Ralph & Evelyn Sanders West; and niece, Tiffany Moman. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Donald Bass; her son & daughter-in-law, Tony & Sal Lee Williams; four grandchildren, Chase, Blake, MyLee, and MalLee; her sister, Frances (Buddy) Williams; two brothers-in-law, Jerry (Brenda) Bass and Jimmy (Angelyn) Bass; niece, Connie (Ken) Moman; two great-nieces, Kelly (Brett) Augsburger and Candi (Adam) Vann; two great-great-nieces, Lucy Vann & Avery Augsburger; and great-great-nephew, Aidan Augsburger.
A celebration of life for Miss Sue will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 20th, at The Hanger on Airport Road.
