Mrs. Julia Susan Murphy Dearman, 71, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama. A graveside service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, December 18, in Liberty Cemetery in Dozier, Alabama with Rev. Robert Foreman officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Dearman was born on August 24, 1948 to Billy and Juanita Murphy. She excelled in academics, graduating as valedictorian of her senior class at Dozier High School. She then went on to receive her Bachelor’s in Education from Troy State University, and later a Master’s in Library Science from Florida State University. She had a lifelong passion for reading, which she was able to share with all of the children she worked with as an educator in Okaloosa County for 40 years. She was also a loving daughter, mother, and grandmother who will be sorely missed.
Mrs. Dearman was preceded in death by her father, Billy Murphy. She is survived by her daughter, Amber Palmer; grandson, Jake Riley Palmer; and her mother, Juanita King Murphy.
Active pallbearers will be Harold Dearman, Alan Currie, Jake Palmer, Kenneth Deavers, and John Joyner.
Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at the service time.
