Susie Bailey Carnes

CARNES, Mrs. Susie Matilda Bailey, 94, a resident of Brantley, Alabama and Huntsville, Alabama, passed away early on Thursday morning, November 9, 2017. Funeral services for Mrs. Carnes will be held at 2 PM on Monday, November 13, at Brantley Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Brantley Cemetery with Brother Wesley Hatcher officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Carnes was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Travis “Jake” Carnes, parents, Matthew Coston and Carrie Wilson Bailey, two sisters, Elizabeth Well and Nellie Cook, and two brothers, Jack Bailey and John Bailey. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Rose Carnes (Jeffrey) Evans, two grandchildren, Travis Jeffrey (Melanie) Evans and Sarah Nicole Evans, and two sisters-in-law, LaRue Kelsoe and Ina Ruth Wallace. Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Evans, Travis Evans, Garrett Finley, Mike Bailey, Mickey Daughtry, and Danny Hughes. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 12:30 – 2pm.
