Susie Mitchell Pate

Mrs. Susie Mitchell Pate, 84, a resident of Goshen, Alabama, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday, March 26, 2020.

Mrs. Pate worked as a vaccinator for Luverne Hatchery for much of her working career. In her free time and her retirement, she loved fishing and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed singing along with her favorite singer, Elvis Presley, and watching Alabama Football. Above all, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who will be deeply missed by all those she leaves behind.

Mrs. Pate was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie O. “Smiley” Pate; two children, Linda Carol Pate and Jimmy Dale Pate; son-in-law, Bobby Jeffcoat; grandson, Jason O. Kelley; and her parents, Jessie James and Vera Wallace Mitchell.

She is survived by her four children, Charlotte Fuller, Joyce Jeffcoat, Connie (Warren) Smith, and Larry Pate; nine grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa) Hurley, Matthew (Ashley) Hurley, Kevin (Laura) Hurley, Melissa (Bill) Robertson, Richard (Shannon) Pate, Brenda Owens, Jennifer (Josh) Pate, Thomas Smith, and Eric (Carrie) Smith; and nineteen great-grandchildren, Allaya Weeks, Abigail Hurley, Payge Robertson, Brooke Robertson, Grace Robertson, Maddie Robertson, Thomas Hurley, Tyler Hurley, “Little” Matthew Hurley, Madison Hurley, Summer Hurley, Isaiah Hurley, Chase Owens, Dalton Lanier, Harleigh Lanier, Victoria Evans, Kayleigh Thornton, Troy Pate, and Tracey Pate.

Active pallbearers will be Joseph Hurley, Matthew Hurley, Kevin Hurley, Josh Lanier, Bill Robertson, and Joseph Robertson.

A private graveside service will be held for the immediate family only due to the rules handed down by the State of Alabama during the current pandemic.
