Think of every wonderful cliche about a sweet, little Southern woman of a certain age, and you'd know nearly everything you needed to know about Sybil. She was never blessed with children of her own, but she was everyone's dear Aunt Sybil. She had this wonderfully soothing maternal instinct that had her always looking after and caring for everyone she met. She ran the snack bar at Dorsey's Trailers for much of her working career, which was fitting given how much she loved to cook. And, like any good Southern woman, her dressing and banana pudding were just about the finest you'd ever be blessed enough to taste. Sybil was also a god-fearing woman who was a lifelong member of Cameron Chapel Methodist Church and, in her free time, she loved to crochet some of the most beautiful gifts for family and friends over the years. Above all, she was a treasured and cherished part of the lives of her family and friends and, while she will be sorely missed, they know she is now celebrating her reward in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Sybil was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest Willard Burgess; parents, William John & Vada Wright Parrish; and siblings, Gladys Hudson, Callie Compton, and Moxley Parrish. She is survived by her nieces, Alecia Parrish & Linda Gayle Smith; nephews, Coleman K. Compton & Gary Lynn Parrish; great-niece, Chasidy Compton; great-nephew, Dusty Dean; and numerous other great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and friends.
