Terry Ronald Boyd

February 24, 1945 — February 14, 2026

Terry Ronald "Ronnie" Boyd, 80, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, February 14th, 2026. Funeral services for Ronnie will be held at 2 PM on Wednesday, February 18th, at New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Seals and Rev. Kenny Horn officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 12:30 to 2 PM.

Ronnie came from a long, proud line of farmers, though he spent most of his years hauling timber for a living. Rare did a CB handle better describe a driver than his, "Bull," given his penchant for being a bit bull-headed and certainly as strong as one! He was a big, strong man with a true heart of gold that melted in the presence of children and babies. There wasn't a child at church who didn't know from a young age that his shirt pocket was always going to be loaded with gum, either Juicy Fruit or Big Red, that was theirs for the asking. No one appealed to Ronnie's spirit of generosity like those in need and precious little ones. While he had one of the strongest work ethics ever seen, he was only ever a phone call away for the people he loved and cared about; and as soon as he got that call he was gonna be out the door, well, as soon as you let him get his boots on!

With the birth of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ronnie became much more well-known through his community by the name they gave him, "Poppy." And he might have been a little famous for his chosen means of transportation to the ball games in Highland Home, his trusty golf cart! You could always find him off to the side watching the kids play as he sat on his cart and he never failed to have someone seated next to him to catch up on things. It's no surprise people nearly lined up to hang out with him because he had the type of personality that shined in this dark world. He was unfailingly friendly, good-natured, and kind, with a great head for remembering everyone's name (and phone number!) and an amazing sense of humor. He wasn't the kind of man to have lots of pastimes and hobbies, but he did enjoy getting together with his buddies over the weekends for a spirited game of dominoes. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and Poppy to the large and wonderful family he created and they are, by far, his proudest accomplishment and his greatest legacy to this world.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 30 years, Micki Boyd; parents, Wilbur Lee & Mildred McCall Boyd; and siblings, Joyce Watson, Carleta Jones, David Boyd, John W. Boyd, Roy Boyd, Morris Boyd, and his twin brother, Donnie Boyd. He is survived by his beloved children, Kirk (Angelia) Edwards, Kim (Travis) Jinright, Wesley (Kim) Boyd, and Misty (Ron) Dean; grandchildren, Britney (Kenny) Mason, Lacey (Justen) Campbell, Erika (Daniel) Scrushy, Toni Edwards (Markell Shepherd), Melanie (Jeremy) Feith, Amy (Taylor) Jones, Jessica Sewell, Jacelyn (Todd) Minor, Trey (Baylea) Jinright, Cortlyn Boyd (Doug Ludwig), Isabella Boyd, Sophia Boyd, Kaydra (Brandon) Walker, Brandon (Amy) Strength, Emma Claire Strength, and Peyton (Haleigh) Dean; twenty-two great-grandchildren with #23 due to arrive in May; brother, Jimmy (Jeannie) Boyd; sisters-in-law, Sherry Boyd & Amy Boyd; caregiver, Faye Kidd; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Trey Jinright, Brandon Strength, Kenny Mason, Justen Campbell, Daniel Scrushy, Markell Shepherd, Todd Minor, and Brandon Walker. Honorary pallbearers will be Kale Mason & Colton Scrushy.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the nurses and staff with SouthernCare Hospice of Greenville for all that they did for both Ronnie and his family.
