Mrs. Thelma Marie Burks Finch, 91, a resident of Highland Home, Alabama, passed away peacefully at home from natural causes on Sunday, September 12, 2021. A graveside service for Mrs. Finch will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, September 19th, in Indian Creek Church Cemetery with Brother William Hendrix officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mrs. Finch was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and her faith in her Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ was second to none. The faith she had was powerfully strong, and she did her best to always live by the teachings of Jesus Christ every day of her life. She exemplified the humble love of Jesus to all those she knew. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel to the world, and had a peace that only the power of prayer could bring.
Mrs. Finch was affectionately known as "Granny Pug" by many and she was loved by all those who knew her. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She adored her family and all of the time they were able to spend together over the years. In her free time, she loved flowers, traveling, embroidery, and keeping up with her family's history. She was an avid reader, especially the Scriptures and Westerns. She also enjoyed following weather forecasts, and anything having to do with her home state of Tennessee. She was a kind and generous soul who will be sorely missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Finch was preceded in death by her son, Leonard Lee Finch Jr; grandson, Mason Aaron Wells; and parents, William Carmen & Ruby Aline Wood Burks. She is survived her children and their spouses, Marie & Jerry Williamson, Becky & Dale Wells, Ona & Richard Seeders, and Marvin & Terri Lynn Finch; grandchildren, Ritchie (Tisha) Williamson, Timothy (Summer) Williamson, Carmen Williamson (Jason) Powell, Matthew (Kellie) Wells, Michael (Monika) Wells, Mark Wells, Andrew (Brittany) Finch, Christina (Steven) Edwards, Jon Finch, James (Noelle) Finch, Olin Finch, Hannah Finch, Elizabeth Kilpatrick, Ashley Segrest, and Will (Jennifer) Segrest; a host of great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson on the way; brother, Dr. Joe W. Burks; extended family members, Shelia Jo & Carrell King, David & Amy Burks, Megan & Carly Burks, and Kathy & Tim Sabot; and her special friend and caregiver, Barbara Knight.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Wells, Mark Wells, Timothy Williamson, Ritchie Williamson, Andrew Finch, and James Finch. Honorary pallbearers will be Connor Williamson, Payton Williamson, Jon Finch, Olin Finch, Matthew Wells, Carrell King, Jason Powell, Zachary Powell, Drew Willis, Steven Edwards, Bryce Wells, and Nicholas Wells.
Family and friends will meet in the cemetery at service time.
