Mr. Thomas “Tom Cat” Ronald Gafford I, 52, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. Funeral services Mr. Gafford will be held 11 AM on Thursday, March 12th, from the Chapel of Turners Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Ousley and Brother Jerry Barlow officiating. Interment will follow in County Line Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Gafford was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved all of his family, but had a special fondness for the children. He was always the one who would happily get down in the dirt with them to play with Tonka trucks. That kind of love emanated from him with everyone, because he never met a stranger. This quality served him well when he travelled around the country as a pipeliner and logger. When he was home, he enjoyed few things more than working his horses, as well as raising chickens and rabbits. His constant companions were his African Pygmy, Star Wars, and his bird, Alcatraz. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Gafford was preceded in death by his parents, Billy Joe and Nell Bolling Gafford, and brother-in-law, Benny Moseley. He is survived by his five children, Ashley Gafford (Andrew Tomlin), Thomas “T.J.” (Ashlynn) Ronald Gafford II, Caitlyn (Jonathon) Spann, Morgan Gafford, and Jonathan Gafford; seven grandchildren; three siblings, Nelda Moseley, Stephanie Gafford, and Terry Joe Johnson; and 3 nephews, a niece, two great-nephews, and a great-niece.
Active pallbearers will be Jeremy Moseley, Austin Boswell, Junior Reeves, Paul Frazier, Harold Burgans, and Johnny Burgans. Honorary pallbearers will be Sawyer Reeves, Justin Reeves, Shaun Wilkes, and Ashton Wilkes.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10 - 11 AM.
