Timothy Eugene Gafford

Timothy Eugene Gafford, 83, a resident of Luverne, Alabama and the Rock Hill Community, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, February 6th, 2025, while surrounded by his family. Funeral services for Tim will be held at 2 PM on Sunday, February 9th, with Brother John Dickinson officiating. Interment will follow there at the church cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday for one hour prior to the service.

Tim was a dedicated vocational teacher in drafting for 26 years, and the amount of lives he touched and changed during that time is incalculable. Not only was he helping to change lives in his chosen profession, but also from the pulpit at several different churches of Christ in local area where he often preached on Sundays. We can all only hope to have had half the influence in making the world a better place as Tim did throughout his life. Not only that but he also proudly served his country with the Alabama National Guard as well. What an incredible legacy to leave behind for so many to look up to!

It's unsurprising that Tim chose so many different ways to contribute to his home and community as he was just the kind of man who loved everyone and always wanted to help whenever and wherever he could. He had an easy way with everyone he met and was also easily loved by nearly all of them. At home, he loved to keep himself busy and could always find something that needed fixing or something new to build. Above all, he was a devoted husband, father, and "Grandpa" to the people he loved the most. He especially loved having the opportunity to coach his grandsons in their recreational sports leagues alongside his older son given how much he had always loved sports himself. In truth, he adored every moment he was able to spend with the grandchildren he treasured so dearly, and they loved him just as much. He will certainly be missed more than words could possibly express, but comfort can be found in the lifetime of memories they all made together.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents, David Matthew & Frances Terry Gafford. He is survived by his loving wife of almost 57 years, Patricia Tomlin Gafford; their children, Scott (Heather) Gafford, Lisa Gafford, and David (Mary) Gafford; grandchildren, Cutter Gafford, Gracie Gafford, Robbie Gafford, & Luca Gafford; siblings, Terry (Gayle) Gafford, Tommy (Patricia) Gafford, and Montine (Dan) Hardin; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Active pallbearers will be Rickey Jeffcoat, Buddy Broadway, Drew Gafford, Matt Hardin, Troy Godwin, Robbie Gafford, Robert Tomlin, Cutter Gafford, and Bubba Taylor.
