Travis Lee Canterbury, 57, a resident of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, October 30th, 2023. Funeral services for Travis will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, November 2nd, at Danielville Baptist Church with Brother Clay Crum officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery there with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Travis's family will receive friends at the church on Thursday for one hour prior to the service.
Travis was the kind of coworker everyone wanted. He was thoughtful, kind, and considerate while also being dang good at his job...because any job worth doing was worth doing well! He spent most of his career in managing different medical practices throughout Montgomery and he was cherished by every single person who worked with him. He most definitely left an impression everywhere he went and he will be sorely missed by all of them. Travis modeled the example of what any parent should be willing to do for their children, sacrifice and do what it takes to make sure their child has the best life possible. He wasn't above working three jobs to make sure his daughter received an excellent education, and she will never forget the kind of love that takes to tackle so much without complaint.
Travis worked so much he rarely had time for hobbies, but he thoroughly enjoyed photography for much of his life. Above all, he was a dedicated father, grandfather, son, and brother...and without a doubt he was always THE favorite son!!! Truly though, he always put his family first and there was no one he would rather spend time with! His goofy side really shined with his daughter when she was growing up as they put on their own SNL-style skits for a laugh. Travis was also a cat person and enjoyed sharing his home with those little destroyers of worlds! He's been taking far too soon from all those who loved him so very much, but comfort can be found in the knowledge that he will continue to live on in their hearts and minds for many more years to come.
Travis was preceded in death by his parents, Dewitt Collins & Faye Hudson Canterbury. He is survived by his beloved daughter, Shelli Canterbury Dean; his grandchildren, Grace Dean & Eli Dean; brother, Michael Canterbury; and his two feline companions, Isabella & Oreo.
Active pallbearers will be Eli Dean, Michael Canterbury, Adam Dantzler, Andrew Dantzler, Clarence Hudson, and Gerald Hudson.
