Tyre Lamar Sexton

October 8, 1941 — August 4, 2025

Tyre L. Sexton, lovingly known as "BigDaddy" by his grandchildren, passed away peacefully surrounded by family. A graveside service for Tyre will be held at 2 PM on Friday, August 8th, in Cool Spring Cemetery with Pastor Justin Jacobs officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 12 to 1 PM.

Known for his quick wit and sharp mind, Tyre was a man who enjoyed gardening, painting and being creative in his younger years. He carried a quiet humor and cleverness that left a lasting impression on those around him.

His grandchildren will especially remember his love for football, his teasing sense of humor, his classic dad jokes, and the stories he loved to tell. Those moments of laughter and connection will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

BigDaddy will be deeply missed and forever remembered

Tyre was preceded in death by his parents Mark and Gladys Sexton, his beloved sisters Eloise Sexton and Juanita Cantrell, his daughters Rhonda Oswald (Larry), Stephanie Sexton, Kristen Sexton, and Sherri Sexton, and his grandson Draye Bell. Though he experienced great loss, it left a deep mark on him and shaped much of his later life. He carried that weight in his own way, quietly and without many words, but it was always present.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Linda Sexton ("NeNe"), and his daughter Tama Carroll (Billy), who remained a strong source of support throughout his later years. His grandchildren, Zac Bell (Kelly), Erica Norsworthy (Jason), Ryan Carroll, Larah Oswald, and Hunter Oswald, and his cherished great-granddaughters, Adelynn and Summerlin Norsworthy, all who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.

Active pallbearers will be Rusty Cantrell, Mike Sexton, Jay Bell, Eli Mosely, Austin Norris, and Shaye Heartsill.
