WEAVER, Mrs. Vera Mae McCartha, 95, a resident of Pike Road, Alabama, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016. Funeral services for Mrs. Weaver will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, June 20, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Dopson officiating and Jason McCartha delivering the eulogy. Interment will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Brantley, Alabama with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her husbands, Jesse Horace McCartha and Rev. Alvis D. Weaver. She is survived by her two sons, Wallace (Ouida) McCartha and Roger (Toni) Weaver, two grandchildren, Jason (Jennifer) McCartha and Brittany McCartha, two great-grandsons, Justice and Jenson McCartha, her sister, Opal Peek, and brother, Edson Wallace. Vera was a pastor’s wife for 48 years, and, though she had no biological daughters of her own, she was called “Mama” by many of the ladies of her churches. She loved both it and them. Active pallbearers will be Gary Peek, Jerry Ryals, Bobby Ryals, Wally Prophitt, Jerry Pounds, and Matthew Morgan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM.
