Mr. Wallace Hillman Newman, 71, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 24, 2021. A graveside service will be held at 2 PM on Saturday, February 27th, in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Faulkner officiating and Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing.
Mr. Newman was a hard worker all of his life, eventually retiring from the Montgomery County Public Works department. After his retirement, he kept active socially, usually meeting with friends every morning for coffee and discussing the news. He was a talker, and he could entertain anyone with his stories. He was such a social person that everyone in town knew him. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his grandchildren. He was always a loving presence in their lives, and they all adored him. He was devoted to his family and they will cherish all of the precious memories they made with him over a lifetime.
Mr. Newman was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia Ann Newman; his parents, Alex & Sarah Gertrude Ingram Newman; and three brothers, Billy Newman, James Earl Newman, and Bobby Newman. He is survived by his son, Keith (Heather) Newman; eight grandchildren, Haley Newman, Meghan Naughton, Adam (Amy) Crowley, Christopher Crowley, Matthew Crowley, Brian Mims, Ashley Mims, and Angela (Lamar) Mims; and three great-grandchildren, Bailee Crowley, McKinley Crowley, and Maverick Crowley.
Active pallbearers will be Adam Crowley, Christopher Crowley, Robbie Newman, Chris Newman, Jason Tillery, and Josh Christy.
