Walter Thomas Wyatt, Jr.

WYATT, Mr. Walter Thomas, Jr., 89, a resident of Winston-Salem, NC, passed away on June 1, 2014 in High Point, NC. Funeral services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, June 7, 2014 in the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Brantley Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home of Saturday from 12 noon until service time. Mr. Wyatt was born in Brantley, AL on January 14, 1925, and he was a graduate of Brantley High School and Auburn University. He also served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. Walter worked for IBM and NASA in Hunstville, AL where he helped design the instrument units for the Apollo rockets. Walter’s wife of 65 years, Blanche Aughtman, preceded him in death by just a few months. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Walter Thomas Wyatt, Sr. & Rosa Jones Davis Wyatt of Brantley; his sisters, Marjorie Hemphill and Sue Viall. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Mike Sparks; two granddaughters, Karen Elizabeth Lytle and Kristal Rene Christensen of Winston-Salem, NC: his nine great grandchildren; and a brother, John Wyatt of Andalusia. Walter loved life and lived it to the fullest for his Savior. His humor and smile could light up a room and every one of his grandchildren remembers his laughs, humor, and unshakeable love for them. His heart was always fully devoted to his God, and his heart’s desire was always to see more people come to know his Lord Jesus Christ. In honor of this heart’s desire, in lieu of flowers the family would like to ask for all donations be given to International Commission, 260 W. Continental Drive, Lewisville, TX 75067.
